Board of Directors

John Deller – Board Chairman

John has lived in Canby for 23 years. After college, he served in many places as an officer in the Army (including time in Germany, Korea and West Point where John has taught). He has worked in financial services and run a consulting office as well. He has experience in organizational effectiveness – how to help an organization improve over time.
John believes strongly in the Mission, Vision and Values of The Canby Center, “In God’s love, we renew dignity and inspire learning for youth and families”. He is very honored to serve on TCC’s Board of Directors. He has a heart for people in need and feels that this role provides an opportunity for him as a Christian to “live sideways” in our community. John and his wife, Monaree attend New Life Foursquare and have 3 kids and 5 grandkids.

Janel Kallstrom – Board Treasurer

Janel is a longtime resident of Canby where 5 generations of her family have attended Canby Schools. She is retired after working for the Oregon Department of Human Services as Human Resource Analyst. She is passionate about feeding hungry kids and actively participates in packing and delivering lunches for our Backpack Buddy program. She attends Canby Christian Church and serves as ministry head for Funeral Receptions.

Charlie Stinson

Charlie is proud to be a lifelong resident of Canby. After high school graduation he served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years and graduated from the University of Colorado, eventually moving back to Canby to raise a family with his wife Denise. Charlie is a registered Petroleum Engineer who recently retired from NW Natural after 32 years of service and currently provides consulting services to the natural gas industry. He is active in Canby Rotary and the Canby Educational Foundation, serving in leadership roles in both organizations. Charlie and Denise attend Canby Alliance Church.

Tristan Gingerich

Tristan serves as the Operations Manager for Gingerich Farms. He possesses a bachelor of science in Biology from Westmont College and a Master of Science from West Virginia University. He brings a heart for the community and a passion for efficiency to the Canby Center.

Char Chase

Char Chase earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University and Master of Science (Nursing) from University of Portland. Char is retired with her most recent position as RN, Nurse Manager at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center, Oregon City. She is an active member of the Oregon City Evangelical Church where she serves on Women’s Missions Committee and has been a member of the Board of Trustees. Ms. Chase is a member of the Rotary Club of Canby and served as its President 2008-2009.

Jay Burke

Returning to the TCC board for the 2nd term, Jay previously served from 2007 to 2013. He is a 13 year Canby resident and his wife Jill (Cullison) was born and raised in Canby. He has 2 children, Audrey-age 9 and Payton-age 6. Both children are active in the Canby community with sports and animals. He is employed as a Parole Officer in Multnomah County’s Domestic Violence Unit and has worked for Multnomah County for 16 years. He is passionate about meeting the needs of families within the community to ensure a better place for all people to live. He loves TCC’s vision of “Relief ~ Relationship ~ Real Life Change” and is committed to living that out in his own life first and also in the lives of his family. Jay and his family attend Grace Chapel.

Angela Navarro – Board Secretary

Angela Navarro, a Canby native who graduated from Canby High School, serves as the principal of Trost Elementary School in Canby.  Trost’s innovative Dual Language Immersion program has been in place since Fall 2004. The program begins in kinder and goes up through sixth grade. In September of 2013 Trost opened their school as a district magnet program. This means that instead of serving only as a neighborhood school they are a K-6 program open to all students across the Canby School District.  Angela and her husband Jesus are delighted to be raising their children in Canby.
